Our Goal this week was to create portraits of each classmate using their winter series techniques.
For Jack's winter project he decided to replicate the work of filmmaker and photographer Wim Wenders. This style involved finding buildings and places that were slightly aged and had some color. He increased the warmth of the photos, to add a aged look. For my portrait of him, I used the same editing process.
For Owen's Winter Project, he studied Aaron Siskid. He replicated his technique by shooting close detailed photos of anything with a deep texture, then added a black and white filter. I used Owens technique to take a close picture of the texture on his hair.
For Bethany's winter Project she was inspired by Yayoi Kusama, a Japanese contemporary artist. She takes b/w photos of herself and draws on them with colored markers. Bethany used the exact same technique and I copied it for this photo.
Davids winter Project he studied Yousuf Karsh. Yousuf Karsh always lit the hands of the subject separately from the lighting on the rest of the person. David Kept all of the images in black and white limit the distraction of color, and allow the viewer to focus on the subject's features. I tried to copy David's technique.
Tim's winter project he tried to emulate the work of Alexy Titarenko. He is a photographer who focuses on the strategy of working with long exposure photographs to show how fast life can move. Tim's subjects were moving while he took the photo. However. he tried to keep the background as still as possible. I copied this technique to create a portrait of Tim.
Hayden's winter project was recreating Jerry Uelsmann work from the series
"Invented Realities". He layered photos over one another and by cutting out the main subject on the top image so the second image was visible. I copied this technique.
