Winter Project Draft 3

Winter Project Draft 3

For my winter project I decided to study Idris Khan. He uses the layering of photographs to create interesting art pieces. I started by taking multiple photographs of a subject. I then edited them, so that they had different amounts of light and different angles. After that I layered them to create lines in the photograph. I started to understand the techniques Idris Khan uses in creating his photography series and mirror them more closely. For this series of my winter project I decided to focus on buildings and architecture. I left one of my photographs in color because depth was more present color. I also used a human as a subject in one of my photos and it was successful in capturing Idris Khans style of photography.

Winter Project Draft 2

Winter Project Draft 2

For my winter project I decided to study Idris Khan. He uses the layering of photographs to create interesting art pieces. I started by taking multiple photographs of a subject. I then edited them, so that they had different amounts of light and different angles. After that I layered them to create lines in the photograph. In Daft 2 of my winter project, the photos I created came out way more successful than Draft 1. I started to understand the techniques Idris Khan uses in creating his photography series and mirror them more closely. For this series of my winter project I decided to focus on buildings and architecture.

Winter Project Draft 1

Winter Project Draft 1

For my winter project I decided to study Idris Khan. He uses the layering of photographs to create interesting art pieces. I started by taking multiple photographs of a subject. I then edited them so that they had different amounts of light and different angles. After that I layered them to create lines in the photograph. I found this project to be extremely difficult and was only able to create 5 photos for this draft. The photographs I created that had a building or architecture as the subject were more successful than the photos where a person or tree was the subject. I think this is because with buildings, the lines in the photograph are more present and easier to make stand out. Idris Khan mainly uses building or city sky lines as his subject. However he does have a few photographs where a person is the subject. In the future I will look closely at those few photograph and try to mirror his images.
