Diagonals, Rule of Thirds and Triangle
This project was focused on three different approaches to composition in photography. The first style involved the subject of the photograph being captured in a way that cuts diagonally across the frame. This style gives the appearance of greater depth because the subject is shot from near to far, instead of horizontally. My first five photos demonstrate this approach. The second style is called the Rule of Thirds. The Rule of Thirds is a technique in which the subject takes up one-third of the frame. This can be shot either horizontally or vertically. Capturing the subject in this way, with the other two-thirds of the background being less emphasized, makes the subject stand out in a way it would't otherwise. The second series of five photos below illustrate this technique. The last approach to composition involved triangles. In using this technique the subject becomes more interesting because it takes on the shape of a triangle. The final five photos in this series illustrate the Triangle technique.

I like how you were able to present what life is like in school with all of your photos but, they still had a bigger and individual focus each time.
ReplyDeleteHi Malia! This is a great photo set! and VERY impressive, it being your first. Generally all your photos show a clear understanding of the given aspect of composition. Your diagonal photos are the most creative reguarding the way that your subjects occupy space in the frame. Interesting use of negative space, especially in the last diagonal photo there. 10/10 GrEaT work!
ReplyDeleteI like how you were able to find photos inside of the school, it felt like it had a more creative aspect to it.
ReplyDeleteI really like how the photos were taken especially the triangle one with you in it. I felt it was very creative and was very well taken.
ReplyDeleteI like the more subtle shapes within the composition, well framed, but not distracting from the whole of the photo.
